if you are a Mac user you don’t need any tool to preview a PSD file , it’s a default setting in Preview but if you are a Windows user you should install a tool because the PSD thumbnail isn’t natively supported in Windows…

I think , it can help us to save the time if we search a PSD file. After the installation of this tool , we can find to right one without open it on Photoshop.
Thumbview is a free application provide the easiest way to preview or display PSD thumbnails in Windows XP explorer.
All you have to do is install this tool and automatically you will be able to preview the PSD file in windows explorer :)
